Introduction To Prosthetic Hands

Prosthetic hands are man-made devices that are used to replicate an original hand that was either lost through trauma or illness or was defected at birth. While many models are purely aesthetic, i.e do not have any mobility but look almost real, medical technology is always advancing and there are now models that can move in a natural manner along with the rest of the arm and even grip objects. Prosthetic hands are almost always made specifically for the individual, and can be suited to their needs and requirements.

How Does A Prosthetic Hand Work?

There are three main types of prosthetic hands and all work differently. Each type is suited to certain individuals and it is important for patients to talk to their doctors and therapists before coming to a decision on which hand will be best for them.
